Wal-Mart: green giant?

While Wal-Mart has seen its work criticized in a number of arenas (small businesses, labor, insensitivity) it really does seem like the retailing giant has a captive audience when it comes to its own greening (and organic food purveying). Wal-Mart’s Tyler Elm was given a great platform, in eco-conscious magazine Plenty, to expound on the company’s green initiatives. Sadly that Q&A is not online, but here’s a nugget.

“Most of our stores have daylight harvesting… That means that the lights in the store actually dim in accordance with the daylight outside, which both reduces greenhouse gas emissions and is good for the business.”
