Red Herring is reporting on an unusual consortium (filled with heated competitors) of tech companies determined to “develop standards, measurement methods, processes and technologies to improve the energy efficiency of high technology products.”
The initiative, called the The Green Grid, is so new that the press page doesn’t even work yet.
Normally combative companies teaming up include Dell, HP, Intel, Microsoft, and Sun, among others.
One green watcher in the article opines that it’s about improving business efficiencies rather than a serious attempt at reducing energy expended. We’ll see.
