Target Green

Follow the money

Investment in Silicon Valley, according to New York Times story, is shifting to alternative energy sources. This might be the first time I’ve heard the term “clean tech” used by a mainstream media outlet - it can be difficult to explain. The story also includes quotes from Clean Tech experts at Bite Communcations and Blanc & Otus.

Scary thing is that some are likening the buzz of this period to the pre-dot com era. Which leads to that always nagging question about sustainability and green issues. If recent stock market adjustments are just the latest sign of a downturn, will green stay hot?

The fact that prweekblog exists is a tribute to the dot-com era’s success in creating a communications environment unlike anything that came before. Wikis, blogs, youtube, and other developments are the end result of the mad creativity Silicon Valley is famous for. Throw in enough money, great minds, and potential profit, and breakthroughs will happen.
That’s what’s going on with clean tech right now. The potential for huge profits as the world converts away from carbon are the lure that investors can’t resist.
