Heard on a train
I was on a train the other day and heard a couple of guys talking about environmentally friendly cleaning products. “Yeah, they don’t work, but they don’t hurt anything either,” one cracked.
This was to me the essence of the challenge of converting consumers to “green” products - the perception that these products are inferior to more traditional formulas. Will US consumers accept scratchy toilet paper in the name of more trees? Not so sure. Do they have to? Again, not so sure.
Green is an important part of the message, of course, but how much speaks to the quality of the items in their own right? I’d love to hear some thoughts from readers about their experience with “green” products versus the more conventional counterparts.
